MA/MSc Cognitive Science

What is this programme about?

Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary field that has evolved during the past few decades at the intersection of a number of existing disciplines, including linguistics, computer science, philosophy, psychology and neuroscience. Each discipline makes its own distinctive contribution to the goal of elucidating the relationships between minds, brains and behaviour.

We offer a one year (12 months) taught masters degree, in which students take 9 months of courses and complete a substantial research project. The degree is aimed at those who might be interested in issues relating to the understanding of the human mind from philosophical, psychological, and computational perspectives. Advanced computational skills are not a pre-requisite, but some familiarity with computers will be assumed.
